Have you chosen a natural stone as a surface for your floor? Congratulations, you have mad the best possible choice. Marble floors are splendid, comfortable and durable.
Façade is a clothing of your house or office, which gives a visitor the first impression about you. Granite or marble façade should not only impress but also serve for at least 50 years without major repairs in order to meet the requirement of Ukrainian law. Not every material can give the building a fancy lookout, and keep it for five decades in our climate with big amplitude of temperatures and humidity. Granite and sandstone would work best to achieve this goal. Marble would not be a good choice for façade works due to its low frost resistance. Granite facades let humidity pass from within the building to outside, so that humidity does not accumulate inside the walls.
There are two technologies for granite facade mounting:
- direct contact mounting technology that works with an aid of mortars (building mixes);
- façade ventilation technology that works with an aid of anchor systems.
Façade ventilation has several advantages over the traditional technology:
- possibility of mounting works over the second floor;
- no wet spots and leaks;
- possibility of mounting when the temperature is below 0 Celsius;
- separateness from the walls, which prevents formation of cracks.
Stone is a valuable material; its beauty is created by union of the nature and the stonehandler. It is a pity when ornamentality is leveled by the facing works. The quality of facing works of construction exteriors and surfaces depends on many factors. In order to avoid irremediable problems after the facing works, it is necessary to take into consideration each of these factors. Defects can be fixed at the stages of:
- choice of material;
- design of facing;
- facing works itself.
Choice of proper material is a centerpiece of ornamentality.
While it is advantageous to make facade out of granite, the floor of residences and dwelling houses should be made out of marble. In comparison to granite, this material is warmer (has smaller heat conductivity) and looks aesthetically better. If you wish to make heated floors, use natural marble only. It warms-up faster and yields the heat back better. Marble is also a very good choice for a bathroom floor. Water not only soaks well into the marble, but also evaporates easily. Unlike some other materials, marble does not crack at the junctions, does not squeak, and can be polished in case of scratching. In order to make a marble floor extra durable, special crystallizers, which give marble some qualities of glass, can be used.
Interior details that show the luxury of house, such as floors, columns, banisters, wide stairways are traditionally made of natural stones only. An interior of such kind is a demonstration of certain social status and dignity of homeowner. Such thing as dignity simply cannot be artificial.
